Like thumb impressions are unique to individuals, heritage serves as the identity of a nation. While we should be proud of it, we should strive to maintain it and foster in our students the appreciation of heritage and the passion to preserve it.
Chitkara School of Planning & Architecture has poured in a lot of effort towards studying the heritage buildings situated across various locales, including Malerkotla, Bagrian, Narnaul, and Jhunjhunu. This undertaking represents a significant aspect of their dedication to the preservation of cultural heritage in alignment with SDG 11.4. Employing rigorous methodologies involving meticulous research, surveys, and detailed documentation, the students of CSPA under the able guidance of their experienced faculty, have meticulously recorded architectural attributes, historical significance, and present conditions of the identified heritage structures. Augmenting their efforts with site measurements and CAD software, they have augmented the precision and depth of their documentation processes. This thorough archival endeavour serves not only to safeguard invaluable cultural heritage but also to facilitate informed decision-making pertaining to conservation and restoration endeavours. Through their active involvement in such initiatives, students of architecture manifest a steadfast commitment to advancing sustainable urban development, heritage preservation, and community resilience. Their collaborative endeavours, under the guidance of faculty mentors, serve as a testament to the transformative potential of education and collective action in addressing global challenges, thereby fostering a more inclusive and resilient built environment for future generations.
