Chitkara University is dedicated to the emotional and mental health support of its students and faculty. We understand the challenges that come with academic pressures and personal growth. To support this, free counselling services are available to all students and faculty members.
Our Counselling Cell provides a safe, confidential space to address personal issues, stress, anxiety, academic pressures, and other mental health concerns. We aim to improve emotional resilience and ensure a balanced academic and personal life for our students and staff. This service aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3), promoting healthy lives and well-being.
ABOUT CHITKARA NURTURE NEST (CNN)
The Chitkara Nurture Nest Counselling Cell was established in January 2025 with the objective of creating a safe and supportive environment for the students, faculty, and staff of Chitkara University. The Cell is committed to enhancing mental well-being, resilience, and holistic growth through professional counselling services.
Our team of four professional Counsellors works proactively and reactively to address challenges such as personal and relationship issues, emotional conflicts, social and adjustment concerns, family and peer difficulties, academic and career pressures, and personality development. The Cell functions as a confidential, non-judgmental, and empathetic space, ensuring that individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Vision
To foster a compassionate and mentally healthy campus where every student feels seen, heard, and valued by providing accessible, empathetic, and professional counselling services that nurture overall well-being, self-awareness, and emotional resilience.
Mission
Individual counselling sessions (approx. 2000), Proactive mental health awareness drives, and Group sessions, Faculty sessions, Sensitization sessions are being conducted.
Passion
We aim to nurture young minds with care and empathy, break the stigma surrounding mental health, create awareness through workshops, sessions, and innovative activities, and empower students with confidence, positivity, and effective coping skills for life.
The Counselling Process
- Step 1: Ensuring seamless accessibility to our services:
- Walk-In Counselling
- Online Access (Chalk pad / Institutional Platforms):
- Referral System (Faculty members, mentors, and deans)
- Step 2: Case Intake & Initial Assessment:
- Detailed Case History
- Mental Status Examination (MSE)
- Psychometric Tools: Administering standardized assessments
- Step 3: Therapeutic Interventions:
- Therapeutic Modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, or supportive counselling depending on individual needs.
- Goal Setting: Collaboratively defining realistic short-term and long-term goals for emotional and academic improvement.
- Skill Building: Enhancing self-awareness, problem-solving, decision-making, and emotional regulation.
- Progress Evaluation: Periodic review of improvements and adjustment of strategies as needed.
- Step 4: Referral System – Medical Professionals/ Psychiatrist
- Step 5: Follow up & Feedback

Confidentiality
- We are committed to /safeguarding the confidentiality of information shared during sessions.
- Adhering to ethical standards, confidentiality is maintained rigorously.
- In cases requiring further intervention from psychiatrists, we consult with higher authorities and relevant faculty to provide appropriate support.
- Otherwise, all counseling information and case records are kept strictly private and secure.
