“Leave no on behind” is a very beautiful message that the UN members States had underlined, conveying the essence of the need to accept and include all, with no barriers of caste, creed, sex, color, race, state, language, country etc. It is a plea to end discrimination and exclusion and reduce the inequalities and vulnerabilities that leave people behind and undermine the potential of individuals and of humanity as a whole. At Chitkara University, inclusivity is practiced in all spheres, be it work and study environment and opportunities, or accessible infrastructure.
Divyangjan friendly infrastructure is given utmost importance, and we are equipped with tactile paths, signages and parking, ramps with railings for all buildings, lifts with braille enabled switch panels, golf cart that can accommodate a wheelchair, pedestrian pathways etc.
The policy on campus infrastructure clearly mentions that there should be pedestrian friendly pathways in campus. To add to the comfort of the health conscious, an effort has been made to make these paths a better option to walks with instrumental music being played before and after working hours. Further to ensure inclusivity, some of these pedestrian pathways are also provided ramps.
Students and employees from various states of the country and different parts of the world live in harmony on our campus. In the case of employees almost 48% of the employees are from other states/ countries. Celebrations on campus include cultural events of various states.
A beautiful signage on our campus conveys the lovely message of “WE ARE ONE” to all those who enter the campus emphasizing our ethos in inclusivity.
To keep students of all backgrounds on the same footing we believe in a uniform appearance and hence, the practice of students wearing uniforms has been introduced and it continues to be followed.
Be it for curriculum, sports or other co-curricular activities, students from various parts of the country / world, of all sex, of all colors, are provided equal opportunities and to monitor this we have an equal rights committee too.
For a safe campus where no one must fear, approximately 1000 CCTV cameras are installed all over the campus with 24 hours monitoring by a dedicated team of security staff. Security for 24* 365 is ensured in campus for which both male and female guards are deployed. The ICC on campus spreads awareness on the need to accept and respect the opposite sex and addresses any concern that may arise. Opportunities to attend workshops on self-defense are also offered to students.
A meditation room on campus for students or stakeholders of all religions with absolutely no religious touch, is another way we practically teach inclusivity to our unizens.
